Hi, Kate, It was so much fun to read about all your adventures in India. How do you find out about all these interesting things to see and do? The photos are fantastic. They are so clear and the colors are so vibrant. I'm so glad you can share this trip with us via your blog. Greetings to Duff.
Love, Mom

Kate, I think I remember the Ridge/Highland elephant: I seem to recall a circus event of some sort. But that's all I recall...nothing about who sponsored it...or when...I'll look at some photos and see if I can get to the bottom of this mystery.

Kate and Duff, I have spent an enjoyable evening reading the whole blog...great text and pix...btw, Kate, Grandma received your photo on her screen, and she called right away when she noticed it. She said it flashed up and she scooted right over to study it. She says that Kate sees the most interesting places; why just imagine her up on top of that camel! Yes, Kate, she did say camel several times! So I guess what you put in the machine in Wuhan as an elephant came out in Lima, Ohio as a camel. But, hey, same basic concept: four legs, back big enough to sit upon, exotic thing not commonly seen on the streets of North America, etc.

so, my memory of the ridge and highland elephant: before there was wendy's, there was a chuck e. cheese, and perhaps another chuck e. cheese-type place before that. or, perhaps, it was just an empty lot, and they set up a circus. but there was an elephant. and there may also have been a little boy there, with his mother. and that little boy's name may have been alex. or i may be mistaken. dad, i fully intend upon getting a picture of me on a camel to grandma this summer. i can just imagine me on top of a camel, too!

love, kate
